We had no cash for wardrobe with this session. But I had paint, and tape! Lucky enough- crystal and Kaitlyn didn't mind. I painted these designs on the bodies in about 20 minutes, in fear of losing what little light I had left.

Kara showed up that evening, with probably NO idea what she was in for. She came to a meet n' greet we had at Big Rock in Cherokee Park. She had never done anything like this before, which is always fun.

This is one of my very first sessions using a camera. The subject gave me these looks that reminded me so much of someone I used to sit for hours thinking about. There you have the title 'Woolgathering'.

Dikfad (Subject above) were sitting around in her apartment, late in the evening. It was almost midnight when she finially aggreed to let me play around with her. She had just rented out her apartment, and didnt even have any clothes there yet, but she had curtains, and paint. I wrapped the curtains around her, and painted up her face! I didnt use any additional lights other than my on camera flash.

So right about the time this session came around, I was re-watching an all time favorite movie "Labrynth". I said to myself, "I just love the glittery walls as she walks through the labrynth." Days later I was walking down an alley with friends late at night. Broken glass was all over the place. It was beautiful under the moon. It sparkled and glistened. I decided at that moment I had to somehow recreate this feeling of sparkly grit.

My father owns a diecutting company and was kind enough to let us shoot there. (Although he had no idea what we'd be doing, and if he did...I'm not sure he would have agreed!) The building is five stories. It was summertime, and HOT. The building was even hotter. We arrived a few hours early to set up. We grabbed a can of spray adhesive from one of the offices and found a stairwell we liked. We sprayed glue on the walls and the floor, then blew, patted, and threw the glitter ALL OVER THE PLACE! To get the effect you see in the photos. We were covered in glitter, but it was worth it!

The next day my dad wasnt to happy about glitter being tracked all through the building! *giggles*

Description of a Flophouse: A flophouse (English: doss-house or dosshouse) is a place that offers very cheap lodging, generally by providing only minimal services. Jack Kerouac stayed in such places in San Francisco and other cities, referring to them as "skid row hotels" in his books. The low prices allowed him to stretch his money from writing and odd jobs.

Puddingheads notes: I wanted something neutral yet strong. I was always sold on a nude gown and sweaty skin. I needed it to look raw and untamed almost. When I look at this character, I like to wonder where she came from. What is she running from? Is she even running?

This was one of the first sessions I did with artist Dikfad. We were so thrilled while going through the original images on the camera. We planned this session for weeks. Many people asked if that was Duct tape on her legs, which was odd to me...because Silence is Golden, but Duct tape...is silver. :)
